JAMMU, Nov 8: Dr Upinder Singh Ghai, District Governor (2021-22) Rotary International District (RID) 3070 and a renowned personality in the field of Medicines also Managing Director of Ghai Hospital Jallandhar in appreciation of the efforts and contribution of Sunil K. Sawhney has elevated him as Zonal Chairman for J&K Zone.
A handout stated that Sawhney is now responsible for implementation of many humanitarian projects like ‘Gift of Sight’, ‘Gift of Life’, distribution of relief material to needy people in case of natural disasters etc.
Sawhney, who earlier served Rotary International as President of Rotary Club (RC) Jammu, Asstt Governor RID 3070 and Chief Sergeant at Arms RID 3070 and his further elevation was keeping in view his immense contributions to uphold the ideals of Rotary International in integrating the suffering of humanity and helping the needy and poor people of the society.
In present disaster of COVID-19 pandemic Sawhney was instrumental in distribution of dry ration to the needy to the tune of Rs. 6 lakh besides contributing more than Rs. 4 lakh to PMCARES fund.
He has been awarded many times by the Rotary International.
In a meeting Deepak Baboo, President RC Jammu thanked Distt Governor Dr U.S Ghai for bestowing this honour to the Club.
Harbans Singh, Dr Anil Amla, Prem Shankar, Dr Gaurav Vaid, Rajat Singh, Sat Pal Verma, Dr Navneet Gupta, D.N Sharma, Ravi Kant Sharma and Aman Sharma were also present on the occasion.
Sawhney will serve the RID 3070 in 2021-22 under the leadership of Dr. U.S Ghai as District Governor and Shekhar Mehta as International President.
