Bovines smuggling bids foiled; 17 cattle rescued, 4 arrested

JAMMU, Nov 8: Chowki Choura and Nagrota Police foiled bovines smuggling bids by rescuing 17 cattle and arresting four persons.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Chowki Choura Police Post laid a naka and intercepted four vehicles bearing registration number JK14C-8001, JK12-4643, JK12-5691 and JK11B-4673.
During checking, police team rescued 14 bovine animals from the vehicles and arrested four cattle smugglers, who were identified as Yasir Hussain, son of Mohammad Sharief of District Rajouri, Jamseed Ahmed, son of Abdul Rashid, Mohammad Shabir, son of Syed Akbar and Mohammad Showket, son of Mohammad Aslam, trio residents of District Poonch.
Cases under FIR Number 202/2020, 203/2020, 204/2020 and 205/2020 have been registered at Police Station Akhnoor and investigation started.
Police team led by Incharge Chowki Choura Police Post SI Ankush Kumar made the arrest under the supervision of SHO Akhnoor Inspector Ravi Singh Parihar, SDPO Akhnoor Varun Jandial and SP Rural Sanjay Sharma.
Meanwhile, a team from Nagrota Police Station during checking near Ban Toll Plaza intercepted a Tata Mobile bearing registration number JK02BR-4508.
During checking, police team rescued 3 bovine animals from the vehicle and seized it, while the smuggler(s) managed to escape from the spot.
A case under FIR Number 416/2020 under relevant Sections has been registered at Nagrota Police Station and investigation initiated.
