RUM launches three projects in J&K for rural population

JAMMU, Nov 8: Rural Uthaan Mission (RUM) launched three projects in Jammu and Kashmir for rural population.
The projects launched are Project Gaon Roshan (a mission to light up 100 villages with street lights in the next two years), Project Rahat (a project to impact 1000 families) and distribution of solar lanterns for the poor people in the villages who don’t have a light backup.
RUM is founed by Kailash Pati Sharma who is from a remote village and is currently working at a senior level in an French MNC and Vivek who is also from Jammu and is currently working in an MNC.
This NGO comprises of members from all over the world.
RUM’s mission is to change the life of the rural population and upskill them with special focus on Jammu and Kashmir.
Inauguration for its three projects happened today where the plan for launching the projects as well as distribution of the fans, solar lanterns happened and work for installation of LED street lights was started.
Vivek Mona, Sarpanch Hazura Singh, Kewal Krishan and team cordinators Shirshik, Rajat, Honey, Tinku, Luck, Ram and Pankaj led this camp.
SDM verbally appreciated the work done by NGO for rural folks.
Few of the families who received fans and lights were of Rani Devi, Keer Singh, Sarla Devi, Chunni Lal, Banarasi Das, Pradeep Kumar, Shiv Ram, Darshana Devi and many others.
RUM also appealed to the responsible citizens to come forward and adopt their villages, so they can make a positive impact to their villages. RUM’s mission also extends to spreading the awareness on Government policies for which they had organised a camp so people could register for Ayush Yojana and claim benefits.
RUM has also planted about 5000 trees, supported more than 100 students from J&K to get Jobs in big companies in the private sector and organised more than 10 awareness camps which includes an eye checkup camp.
