LEH, Nov 9: The second meeting of UT Ladakh Bankers Committee (UTLBC) was held under the chairmanship of Commissioner/Secretary Finance, Rigzin Samphel, here today.
Keeping in view the low Credit Deposit Ratio in Ladakh as compared to previous year, the Commissioner Secretary stated that only SBI and J&K banks have maintained good CD ratio and other private banks have constant low figures.
Samphel warned these private banks to dispense off the due share to the people of Ladakh and instructed the convener to set a target for these banks to dispense timely benefit to their customers. He emphasized on organizing more financial literacy camps and directed the officers to submit the calendar for MUDRA camps within a week. He directed RSETIs Manager to tie up with the respective Deputy Commissioner of Leh and Kargil for early establishment of RSETIs institute in both the districts.
With the extension of banking facilities to all the remotest villages of Ladakh, the Commissioner/Secretary passed directions to complete the survey of mapping within 10 days. He emphasized that it is one of the top priorities as 113 villages in Ladakh are still out of banking facilities. He also directed all the banks to upload their data on the newly opened web portal by UTLBC till November 15 and to continue it on regular basis with timely feeding of exact data.
At the outset, Assistant General Manager/Convener UTLBC of UT Ladakh Tsering Motup gave detail presentation on the Credit Deposit Ratio position, achievements in lending to priority sector/non-priority sectors under Annual Credit Plan 2020-21, Credit disbursement under Government sponsored schemes, performance of banks under Kisan Credit Card (KCC) schemes and its disbursement, Financial Literacy Initiatives by FLCs and Rural branches of Banks of UT Ladakh, besides performance and progress under other schemes.
The meeting was attended by Divisional Commissioner/ Secretary Industries & Commerce, Saugat Biswas, Deputy Commissioner Leh Sachin Kumar Vaishya and Director Urban Local Bodies, Zahida Bano.
