JAMMU, Apr 29: Police today seized a truck loaded with about 300 empty and filled LPG cylinders at Narwal, which had to be delivered to Hindustan Petroleum Gas Agency at Anantnag in Kashmir valley.
Reports said police seized truck No. 4815 JK02AA from Narwal and seized 285 empty and 15 filled LPG cylinders from it. The truck driver managed to escape from the spot.
Police said the LPG cylinders had been loaded in the truck from HP Gas Agency, Bari Brahmana on April 23 and were to be delivered at HP Gas Agency, Anantnag. However, the truck driver under a nexus disposed of 285 filled LPG cylinders at Narwal and replaced them with empty. Only 15 filled cylinders were left.
Police have registered a FIR in this connection at Trikuta Nagar police station under Section 407, 120-B RPC and 3/7 Essential Commodities Act for further investigations.
A hunt was on for the absconding truck driver to unearth the conspiracy, reports said.
Police parties headed by SHO Trikuta Nagar Inspector Chanchal Singh made the recoveries.
