VC expresses desire to encourage reading culture among students

55 Vedas Books donated to JU

JAMMU, May 24: SD College for Women, Sultanpur, Lodhi today donated fifty five books of Vedas to Jammu University.
The Vedas books were translated by Soami Divya Nand Ji and these books were donated to the Jammu University by Dr Vandana Shukla, Principal, SD College for Women.
The collection included Vedamrit (translation of Veda’s), four sets of Ancient Divine Eternal Verities (Vol I to VIII), one set of Vedamrit (translation in Hindi) (Vol I to XXIII) and five copies of Surya Devta book. Most of the books are published in English, Hindi and German.
Handing over the books to the Vice Chancellor, Dr Vandana Shukla, said that it was Soami Divyanand Ji’s token support to the wonderful job being done by the authorities of the University.
While speaking, Prof Mohan Paul Singh Ishar, Vice Chancellor, Jammu Varsity, described the gesture as another step towards enhancing the reading culture of the students.
Prof Singh said that the books had been veritable tool in the educational setup. He expressed his desire to encourage the reading culture of the students of the Jammu Varsity.
Among others present were Prof Posh Charak, Head, Department of English, Prof Purshottam Sharma, Head, Department of Sanskrit, Prof Parmeshwari, Head at Department of Hindi, Jai Kumar Sharma, OSD to Vice Chancellor, Mohd Shoaib, Incharge Librarian, Manmohan Shukla, Deputy Manager, Indian Oil, Jalandhar, Meenakshi Shukla, Dr Jaspal Singh, Co-ordinator, MA Programme, DDE.
