SAYSS demands implementation of agreement, warns agitation

JAMMU, May 24: Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangarsh Samiti (SAYSS) has urged the Government to implement the agreement made with the Samiti during the Amarnath land row agitation 2008.
The convener of the Samiti Pawan Kohli while talking to the reporters here today said that four years to the agreement will be completed in August this year and till date the Government has failed to implement the same in letter and spirit.
Mr Kohli said that in case no head way was made in implementation of the agreement by August this year the Samiti will be left with no alternative but to launch the 2008 type agitation once again and the Government will be responsible for all consequences.
He said the 14 point charter of demands was presented by the Samiti before the Government during the negotiations and the main demands related to withdrawal of crime cases against various persons during the period of agitation, providing of compensation to the families of the deceased and to the injured and working out of appropriate packages of financial assistance to compensate the losses of the transport sector, trade and industry, horticulture sector, hoteliers and tourist operators.
Mr Kohli while justifying the VHP demand that holy Amarnath yatra should run for two months from Jesht Purnima to Sawan Purnima as per tradition said Samiti will extend full support to VHP in running two months yatra..
