JAMMU, Nov 13: J&K Chapter of Society of Fetal Medicine (SFM) organized its first and inaugural CME for providing a long pending and unmet need for providing an optimal outcome to the fetus and mother.
The meeting was organized by Dr Arshad Bhat, Consultant Radiologist through virtual platform, wherein speakers, chairpersons, panelists and participants all across the India and abroad participated. Detailed deliberations were given by eminent national faculty followed by a panel discussion on case scenarios in day to day practice.
Dr Arshad Bhat explained how optimal imaging and comprehensive approach by Obstetricians, Geneticists and Radiologists & Imaging Specialists can be planned to provide an optimal atmosphere to the fetus and mother duo. He further added that the SFM is aimed at early detection of fetal abnormalities and syndromes and timely interventions and counseling of parents whatever required so as to have a healthy fetus born to a healthy mother.
He said earlier the pregnant ladies of the erstwhile State of J&K were deprived of specialized care with respect to advanced imaging and fetal interventional procedures for which they were supposed to spend huge amount besides traveling to centers outside the state if required but now they need not to go anywhere and can be take care of in their home state.
Dr Bhat attributed establishment of JK Chapter of SFM to the efforts of Dr TLN Praveen (president SFM) and his team and especially Dr Ashok Khurana (immediate past president of SFM).
