Mother-son among 5 killed in road accidents

JAMMU, Nov 13: Five persons including a mother-son duo and an official of J&K Police were killed today in separate road accidents occurred in city and its outskirts.
“In a tragic road accident, a mother and her eight-year-old son were crushed to death by a truck (registration number JK14A-5933) in Ware House area of Jammu City, this evening when they were travelling on a scooty bearing registration number JK02BC-9628,” a police official said.
He said that bodies of the deceased identified as Rajinder Kour (42) wife of Jagmit Singh of Model Town (Gangyal) and Yuvraj son of Jagmit Singh, were shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu for postmortem while a case in this connection was registered at police station Gandhi Nagar and manhunt launched to nab the accused truck driver who managed to flee along with his vehicle from the crime spot.
“On National Highway at Channi, a speeding unknown vehicle hit a bike and seriously injured its rider namely Bhagh Ali (50) son of Noor Mohd, resident of Bishnah,” the official said, adding, the injured man identified as a Head Constable of J&K Police was immediately rushed to GMCH Jammu where doctors declared him as brought dead.
The mishap occurred at about 2 pm, the official said. He said that the body was send for postmortem while a case in this connection was registered at concerned police station and further investigation started. “The deceased was heading towards his residence at Bishnah from Nagrota after performing his duties when the mishap occurred,” the official added.
“A scooter-borne man namely Vinod Kumar son of Vasudev Sharma of Balwant Vihar (Talab Tillo) got serious injuries this afternoon when a speeding oil tanker (registration number PB02AP-9954) hit his two-wheeler bearing registration number JK02G-7389 at Muthi village on Jammu-Akhnoor Road,” the police official said.
He said that the injured man was rushed to GMCH Jammu but was declared as brought dead by the doctors. The accused tanker driver namely Nirmal Singh son of Bahadur Singh of Punjab was arrested and a case against him was registered in this connection at police station Domana, the official added.
“Similarly, a bike-borne man namely Gurmeet Singh son of Mian Singh, resident of Pritam Nagar (Deoli) sustained serious injuries after being hit by an unknown vehicle at Phinder in Bishnah area,” the official said, adding, the injured man was rushed to GMCH Jammu but doctors there declared him as brought dead.
He said that a case has been registered in this connection at concerned police station and further investigation started.
