TOKYO, Apr 30: Japan’s crude oil imports from Iran in March rose 4.5 percent from a year earlier to 1.393 million kilolitres (282,635 barrels per day), Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) data showed on Tuesday, a rare increase in supplies for Japan from the sanction-hit Middle Eastern country.
Japan’s Ministry of Finance recently issued customs-cleared imports data from Iran, but the oil industry considers METI data as a benchmark because it tracks the actual import status of oil tankers.
