JAMMU, Nov 18: Bari Brahmana Industries Association (BBIA), termed the release of 50 % fixed charges relief of electricity bills to the Industrial units as a step in right direction.
A meeting of BBIA was held here today under the leadership of Lalit Mahajan, chairman, Federation of Industries, Jammu (FOIJ) and president BBIA in presence of Tarun Singla, senior vice president; Ajay Langer, vice president; Viraaj Malhotra, general secretary; Rajesh Jain secretary and Vivek Singhal Treasurer BBIA and other members in which the members present in the meeting lauded the adjustment of 50% fixed charges of electricity bills issued for the month of October 2020 by the Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Ltd.
While conveying their gratitude to Lt Governor Manoj Sinha for the adjustment of 50% fixed/minimum demand charges for the period 1st January 2020 to October 2020 in the Power supply Bill for the month of October 2020 which BBIA terms as a step towards timely Financial support to Industrial Sector suffering due to COVID-19 situation.
They invited the attention of Lt Governor towards the delay reported in the sanction/surrender of power load in favour of the Industrial units as at present it will take months to get the power connection due to cumbersome procedure adopted by the Department as the files moving between 16 tables of different wings of PDD for the sanction of fresh power connections or surrender of load, resulting the delay in the implementation of projects in spite of availability of land and other Infrastructure for the setting up of new units.
They further pointed out that their request for the adoption of `Ease of Doing Business’ is pending with the PDD since long but no action has been taken by the Department to simplify the procedure.
BBIA sought the intervention of Lt Governor into the matter and requested to issue necessary directions to Power Development Department for the adoption of this concept to streamline the procedure for the sanction of Power load for the Industrial Sector.
