SRINAGAR, Nov 18: Lashing out at Gupkar Gang, the spokesperson of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Altaf Thakur today said that Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD), comprising of so called mainstream leaders is nothing but a common platform to grab power.
Addressing media persons at Anantnag soon after the filing of nomination papers by his party’s candidate for District Development Council (DDC) elections, Thakur stated that PAGD won’t last for too long, adding that people are wise enough to understand the aims and objectives of such formations.
Members of PAGD are all involved in corrupt practices. They have been filling their own pockets instead of people, who voted them to power for the reddressal of their issues. They have been living for themselves and not for people,” he added.
Thakur said that “their participation in electoral process makes it ample clear that they want power and nothing else.”
“For power, they can go to any extent. They have lost the relevance among people. People have understood their intentions behind raking up issues like article- 370, development, etc. Nobody on earth can dare to touch Article-370.Its revocation is impossible,” he said.
“What happened to NC’s autonomy and PDP’s self-rule?, he questioned.
Thakur said that for the last 30 years, the successive regimes have done nothing for people instead looted public money.
“Their days are gone. The Central Government led by Prime Minister,(PM), Narendera Modi is committed to eradicate corruption from the Union Territory (UT)of Jammu & Kashmir. The process to weed out corruption has already started. The corruption charges against many politicians are being investigated,” Thakur added.
“Among them is the PAGD’s chief, is involved in the Rs-113 crore Jammu & Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) scam. The Enforcement Directorate(ED) is investigating the scam. Referring to Roshni scam, he said “instead of seeking restoration of Article-370,they should seek stern punishment for those involved in the illegal transfer of ownership rights of State land.
“The scam has caused a loss of Rs-25000 crores to State exchequer. It is the biggest scam in the history of UT. Enactment of Roshni scheme was a huge political fraud, he added.
