Unearthing of spurious drug scam is snowballing into a major issue in the State with the High Court taking certain steps to fix responsibility. In these columns we had, for the first time, brought to public notice that spurious drugs were supplied in government hospitals and that the concerned authorities had not subjected these to laboratory test before prescribing them for the patients. Spurious and fake drugs supplied by dealers run into millions of rupees but at the risk of the health and lives of innocent patients. Spurious drugs were first detected in Srinagar and later on it was found that the suppliers had expanded their tentacles in the entire state. This is a crime against humanity. The High Court has taken a timely step of stepping up full investigation into this scandal. This is an issue with which people of all classes in the State are deeply concerned. The culprits and their accomplices should be exposed and brought to book in accordance with law of the land.
