Illicit timber seized, smugglers booked

BHADERWAH, Nov 20: Police seized large quantity of illegal timber from Nalthi village here today.
According to SP Bhadarwah Raj Singh Gouria, an information was received from reliable sources at about 1615 hours that a person namely Shabir Ahmad of Chinar Mohallah Bhadarwah along with Mohammad Yasin, son of Shams Din Bhat of Chinayas Tehsil Pingle, at present Nalthi Bhadarwah are in the business of illegal sale of timber.
“Acting swiftly, a police team reached the spot at Nalthi area of Bhadarwah, where illegal timber was dumped in newly constructed huts”, SP said, adding that the timber along with some equipments have been seized on the spot.
The recovery included 7 slippers, 41 kandails, 10 fattas, 2 logs of wood, 1 mechanical planner and 1 wood cutter.
A case under FIR Number 140/2020 under Sections 379 IPC and 6 Forest Act has been registered at Police Station Bhadarwah against Shabir Ahmed and Mohammad Yasin”, SP said, adding that further investigation into the case is going on.
