JAMMU, May 1: A gangrape victim allegedly tried to commit suicide by hanging herself at her residence in village Shatraiya, falling under the jurisdiction of RS Pura police station.
“A 15-year-old gangrape victim attempted suicide by hanging herself at her residence in village Shatraiya, RS Pura”, police official said.
The girl was found unconscious by the family members and they immediately shifted her to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), where her condition was stated to be out of danger, he added.
The minor girl was allegedly gangraped by her cousin and his friend on April 28, adding that the both the accused identified as Deepak Chib, resident of same area and his friend Rahul Singh were arrested in this connection.
The accused took away the girl from her home on some pretext and outraged her modesty at an isolated place in village Shatraiya.
However, the girl managed to escape from the spot and after reaching home, narrated the whole episode to her family members, who lodged a complaint with RS Pura police.
A case under Section 363, 376 RPC stands registered at RS Pura police station and investigations into the case is going on.
