10-year-old killed as truck hits bike

JAMMU, Nov 22: A 10-year-old child was killed today in Miran Sahib area of city outskirts when a speeding truck hit a bike.
“The mishap occurred this evening at Brigade Road, Miran Sahib,” a police official said. He said that a truck (registration number JK02BK-5809) being driven in a rash and negligent manner by some unknown driver hit a bike bearing registration number JK02CK-0834 at Miran Sahib.
He said in the mishap, the pillion rider namely Vishal Kumar (10) son of Romesh Lal, resident of Rajpura Mandi (Akhnoor Road) died on the spot. “His body was shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu for postmortem while a case in this connection was registered at police station Miran Sahib and further investigation started.
The official said that a manhunt was launched to nab the accused truck driver who managed to flee along with his vehicle from the crime spot.
