Supreme sacrifices of Guru Teg Bahadur recalled during webinar

JAMMU, Nov 24: On the occasion of the martyrdom day of Shri Guru Teg Bahadur Ji Maharaj, a virtual seminar was organised by the VASUK civil society group today. The seminar was attended by Kashmiri Pandits and Sikhs across Jammu and Kashmir. The programme was held under the chairmanship of K.S.Wazir and Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, senior BJP and Kashmiri Pandit leader and incharge Department of Political Affairs and Feedback, J&K-BJP was the chief guest on the occasion.
Those who participated in the Webinar besides others included Utpal Kaul, GKPD India incharge, Virender Raina, president, Panun Kashmir, Prem Singh Raina, president, Kashmir Sikh Displaced Forum, Upinder Kaul, Kamal Bagati, Sandeep Kisroo, Ashok Chrungoo and Sameer Bhat. Ashok Saraf ‘Gayal’ who transcribed the poetry of Maithilisharan Gupt dedicated to Guru Teg Bahadur into Kashmiri language was the guest of honour.
The seminar discussed various aspects of the life of the Guruji who is revered for his supreme sacrifice in order to save and protect Hindu Dharma, Hindustan, Human Rights, human values and humanity from the medieval barbarian Mughals who ruled our country for almost 200 years. The Webinar also, in view of the acute Covid-19 situation decided to postpone the scheduled ‘Kashmir Sankalp Yatra’ to January 2021 for the final decision on it.
Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo in his address said that the sacrifices made by the Guru Maharaj and his whole family of three generations to protect ‘Desh and Dharma’ are great and unparallel. They inspire generations after generations for the last more than three hundred years. The Hindu society will be taking part in the 400th birth anniversary functions of the legendary Guru next year in 2021.
Utpal Kaul explained the historical perspective which paved way for the Guru Maharaj to take such an inspiring step on the insistence of his dear son Gobind Rai who later was known as Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj.
Virender Raina in his presentation paid rich tributes to the memory of the great Guru.
Ashok Saraf made a presentation from his book on Guru Teg Bahadur Ji Maharaj.
K.S.Wazir in his remarks said that the ties of Kashmiri Pandits with the Sikh community have historical bondings and mutual love inherent in them.
