WASHINGTON, May 3: Britain’s Nehal Bhogaita has won the title of Miss India Worldwide, making her the first deaf to win the beauty pageant.
The first deaf contestant in the pageant’s history, Nehal aspires to be a role model for the deaf and disabled, according to a media statement issued by its organiser Dharmatma Saran of IFC.
During the beauty pageant held in Kuala Lumpur last week, Nehal performed a Bollywood dance routine that highlights her own conviction of never giving up.
While she is unable to hear the music, she dances using the vibrations of the beats.
