Pakistan given consular access to their injured prisoner

NEW DELHI :  Pakistani officials were given access  to their injured prisoner Sanaullah Raje who is lying comatose in a Chandigarh hospital after yesterday’s attack by a jail inmate in Jammu.
Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin said here that officials of the Pakistani High Commission have also met the doctors treating the prisoner.
Attack on Raje, lodged in Kot Bhalwal jail in Jammu, took place yesterday, a day after Indian prisoner Sarabjit Singh’s body was brought home from Lahore where he had died following a similar attack in Kot Lakhpat jail last week.
Raje was attacked following an altercation, after which he was hospitalised in Jammu and later shifted to the Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER),Chandigarh.
Pakistan had yesterday demanded immediate release of Raje and shifting him to his home country for treatment. (AGENCIES)
