BSF’s laudable role in guarding borders

Neighbouring country’s belligerence and incessant hostility towards this country are manifest in many ways but apparently, acts like frequent border violations, series of firing from the other side of the border to give cover to infiltrators to enter Indian territory to indulge in acts of terrorism and violence, have all along been managed effectively and professionally by the Border Security Force . Of late, new diabolical and nefarious deeds of digging tunnels by Pakistan and recovery of the same made by the BSF as also its drones having been found indulging in hostile acts by the same force, has been yet another feather in its cap of guarding the country’s borders superbly . On December 1, each year the Force celebrates its raising day and it was on this day in 1965 when the Force comprising 2.65 lakh personnelwas raised. The aim was primarily to guard the combined front along 6386 Km long fronts with Pakistan and Bangladesh. Addressing its 56th raising day event , Union Minister NityanandRai made it amply clear that there was an element of uncertainty along the border with Pakistan as every now and then, ceasefire violations werecarried out by Pakistan.
It is another thing that with a paradigm shift in the country’s policy to give free hand to the BSF to deal effectively with such ceasefire violations in which the other side had to suffer a bloody nose like retaliation but despite that , it continued to unabatedly furthering its agenda of hostilities towards this country. Not only attempts of frequent infiltration from the other side are noticed which strangely had been there since 1947 but not with as much frequency as for the last three decades, but smuggling of modern weapons and narcotics through the borders too are continuously attempted from the other side. The proverbial proof of pudding being in its eating , recovery of underground tunnels and cache of arms and ammunition as also haul of drugs and narcotics are all proofs of that country’s hostilities towards India. In all these circumstances, the role of the Border Security Force is praiseworthy in securing our borders irrespective of harsh and inhospitable terrain and unfavourable weather. The force standing all alert and watchful on borders was rightly termed by the Union Minister as “like a rock”.
The event recalled the efforts of the Force and the Force Director used the opportunity to assure the country that the BSF was committed to foil all attempts of ”anti-national elements ” to breach the sanctity of Indian borders. The Force had done commendable job along the Line of Control and the International Border in Punjab, Rajasthan and Jammu and Kashmir by killing infiltrators and unearthing underground tunnels and dealing sternly with unmanned aerial vehicles including drones, was all recounted by the BSF Director General.
In moments of natural calamities, floods, etc the role of the BSF has been praiseworthy and absolutely professional. It is needless to mention that the BSF has been performing its envious role in seizing biggest hauls of drugs and heroin at the International Border from time to time thus giving biggest jolts to the narcotic syndicate.
