Two chain snatchers held with stolen ornaments

JAMMU, Dec 3: Nowabad police claimed to have solved two chain snatching cases by arresting the two snatchers.
Police sources said that a report was lodged at police post Canal by a lady namely Dr Manju Tikku of Bhagwati Nagar regarding chain snatching near Pawan Ice Cream by two bikers.
They said on very next day, a similar chain snatching incident was reported by another lady namely Santosh Bakshi of Talab Tillo, following which two cases bearing FIR Number 133/2020 and FIR Number 135/2020 respectively were registered at Police Station Nowabad.
Accordingly, sources said that special police teams headed by SHO police station Nowabad Inspector Deepak Jasrotia assisted by Incharge police post Canal Road SI Ravinder Singh and Incharge police post Talab Tillo SI Kali Charan were formed.
During investigation, the police teams connected various links and finally using the CCTV footages from the area of crime, two suspects namely Avinash Sharma son of Om Parkash of Garhi (Udhampur) and Momin Mukhtar son of Abdul Gani of Gujral Basti (Duru) were taken into custody and on questioning, suspects confessed their crime.
“On their disclosure, two gold chains weighing 45 grams worth Rs 2 lakh and a motorcycle bearing registration number JK14C-9081 were recovered,” sources said, adding, further investigation of the case is going on.
