Woman dies, 2 hurt in accident

RAJOURI, Dec 8: A middle-aged woman was killed while two other persons were injured, when a private car rolled down into a gorge in Manjakote area on Jammu-Poonch highway in district Rajouri this morning.
A police spokesman said that the mishap took place at around 6.15 am when the Maruti car bearing Registration No. JK02AB/4075 was on way to Jammu from Kalaban in Mendhar. The driver lost control over the vehicle and it rolled down into nearly 40 ft deep gorge near Katarmal village.
The locals of the area rushed to the spot for rescue of the victims. The police party also arrived there after some time. They shifted all the three injured persons to Manjakote where, 45-year-old Parveen Akhtar, wife of Jan Mohammed, resident of Kalaban in Mendhar was declared as brought dead.
The injured, Mohd Yunis, son of Jan Mohd and Sajjad Ahmed, son of Khan Mohd from Kalaban were provided treatment at DH Rajouri and later referred to Jammu. The police has taken cognizance of the matter.
