Justice Magrey for prioritizing old cases

SRINAGAR, Dec 10: Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey, Administrative Judge for District Srinagar held a video conference with the Judicial Officers posted at District Headquarter Srinagar today.
He emphasized upon the Judges to ensure disposal of old cases on priority, so that there is no long wait for the litigants who are seeking justice.
He urged upon the judges to be fearless in delivering justice so that the confidence of the common man on Justice Delivery System is strengthened as the people have great trust and confidence in the Courts.
To be fair and honest is the basic virtue of judge as the process of delivery of justice is divine in nature and has to be pure and unadulterated, he added. While appreciating the Judicial Officers for their hard work and maintaining the decorum and dignity of the Court, Justice Magrey sought weekly performance reports from the Judicial Officers so as to ensure that priority is given to the old pending cases.
Abdul Rashid Malik, Principal District and Sessions Judge Srinagar briefed Justice Magrey about the functioning of the Courts at Srinagar and also highlighted the infrastructural requirements.
The Administrative Judge issued on the spot directions to the concerned to ensure no difficulty in operating different mechanical services including heating system in the Court Complex and other facilities should occur during winter.
Meanshile, Justice Magrey convened a meeting to review infrastructure matters for the district judiciary Ganderbal.
Among others, the meeting was attended by District Development Commissioner Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal, Principal District & Sessions Judge Ganderbal, Mohammad Yosuf, Executive Engineer R&B Division Ganderbal, Judicial Officers and the members of Executive Committee of Bar Association besides other officers.
On the occasion, he said that a meeting will be convened by the Registrar General High Court of J&K with the Commissioner Secretary to Government of J&K Revenue Department, Commissioner Secretary to Government Law Department, Custodian General, Deputy Custodian Kashmir, Principal District & Sessions Judge Ganderbal, DDC Ganderbal and President, Bar Association Ganderbal to sort out pending issue regarding the transfer of identified chunk of evacuee property measuring 45 to 55 kanals of land situated at Ganderbal near SP Office.
He passed on spot directions regarding the holding of the proposed meeting of the aforementioned officers. He also desired that the construction of Access Control Shed and the Sentry Post on the main gate of the Court complex will be undertaken by the District Police office out of Security related funds.
Furthermore, he also desired that the minor repairs and renovation matters touching the convenience of the bench and bar shall be undertaken as a routine matter by the DDC and the R&B Division Ganderbal.
Justice Magrey interacted with the Judicial Officers and asked them to discharge their duties independently, partially and without any fear and favor. The Judge was given Guard of Honor by the district police on the occasion.
