Pir Panchal releases Bhajan Malla, Dharmic Calander

JAMMU, Dec 11: Maintaining that the Kashmir is land of saints and Kashmiri Pandits have made tremendous contribution to Indian Aesthetics, Prof Ashok Aima, Vice Chancellor Central University Jammu today urged the displaced Kashmiri Pandits to reinvent their cultural moorings.
Prof Aima who was the chief guest at a function organized by Pir Panchal in connection with release of Fifth Edition of Bhajana Malla and Dharmic Calander in memory of Krishna Jyotshi on her death anniversary here today, highlighted the contribution of Vijeshwar Jyothsi Karyalya of Bijbehara in tying the entire community which is scattered all over the globe into one string after the mass exodus of the community from Valley.
Terming the Vijeshwar Panchang a Dharmic granth, he said it has made tremendous contribution to the community over the centuries. He also highlighted the contribution of Pir Panchal in social and educational sector saying the Radio Shadra is one of the greatest achievements of the organization and its president, Ramesh Hangloo.
The function was presided over by Ramesh Hangloo who in his address highlighted the role of Pir Panchal in cultural health, education, sports and social sectors. He stressed on preserving the culture and language saying that no one can save a community from extinction which loses its language and culture.
Swami Kumar Ji, a religious Guru who was the guest of honour stressed the need of inculcating the good moral values among the younger generation and also educating them about the rich cultural values of the community, its great scholars and saints which the Kashmir has produced from times immemorial.
Among others who spoke on the occasion included Prof B L Zutshi, A K Naz, P N Shad, J K Koul Bezan, Jai Krishan Raina, B L Bhat ex MLC. The vote of thanks was proposed by A K Jyotshi while the stage was managed by P K Raina.
The function among others was attended by Sheela Handoo, Councilor Anantnag and senior BJP leader, K K Ganjoo, Vijay Kaul, Jyotshi B L Shastri, aryna Ramesh and others. The functions started with Sarswati Vandhna by Priyanka Sharma and Sarita Raina.
