Many from families, offices, PP test +ve
One death, 41 fresh cases in Ladakh

JAMMU, Dec 11: With no let up in Corona casualties and fresh cases, nine persons, three of them women including an Under Secretary in the Home Department of Jammu and Kashmir Government, died of COVID-19 in Jammu region today while 202 more persons, many of them from different families, tested positive and 226 recovered from the virus.
A 54-year-old Under Secretary in Home Department of the Union Territory Government died of Coronavirus at her home in Roop Nagar this afternoon. She was not feeling well for past about one week and was on leave for treatment. She died within few hours after testing positive for the virus at home.
While officials confirmed the death of woman officer, they said it was being investigated whether she had tested positive for the virus or not.
Of today’s Corona fatalities, four were reported in the hospitals other than the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu including three outside the Union Territory.
A 56-year-old man from Khanpur Nagar in Jammu district, who was suffering from multiple ailments and COVID-19 died in the IVY Hospital Mohali while 46-year-old man hailing from village Kanara in Nowshera tehsil of Rajouri district, who was positive for the virus, breathed his last in the Fortis Hospital Amritsar.
A 54-year-old man from Chann Arorian near Hiranagar in Kathua district, who was co-morbid and Corona positive, died in Dayanand Medical College (DMC) Ludhiana while 78-year-old man from Trikuta Nagar in Jammu district, who too had various ailments besides being COVID positive, died in ASCOMS Sidhra.
An 85-year-old woman from Muthi and 65-year-old man from Janipura, both in Jammu district, who were suffering from co-morbidities and Coronavirus, died in the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu. A 65-year-old man from village Dokh Bajja Bai in Sunderbani tehsil of Rajouri district died of pathogen in the GMC Jammu.
Five of a family from Muthi, four family members each from Shastri Nagar, Talab Tillo and Barnai and three from Bohri today tested positive for the virus. One person each reported positive in the SDM Office Janipura and Police Post Panjtirthi. As many as 208 persons were subjected to testing in the district courts and all of them were negative.
Seven persons reported positive at Kot Bhalwal, four each Jewel Chowk and Gadigarh, three Bishnah, two Dansal and one each at Akhnoor and Pallanwalla in Jammu district.
Among 202 persons who reported positive for Coronavirus in Jammu region today, 101 were reported from Jammu district followed by 29 Kathua, 17 Rajouri, 13 each Udhampur and Kishtwar, 10 Doda, eight Ramban, seven Samba, three Reasi and two in Poonch district.
Of 226 persons who recovered from the virus, 107 hailed from Jammu district, 61 Kishtwar, 21 Udhampur, 12 each Rajouri and Kathua, nine Doda and four in Poonch district. No recoveries were, however, reported from Samba, Ramban and Reasi districts.
With today’s 202 positive cases, Jammu region’s Corona count has reached 47042. The region has 2298 active positive cases while 44103 have recovered from the virus and there have been 641 casualties.
Maximum 324 COVID casualties have been reported in Jammu district while Doda has 58, Udhampur 53, Rajouri 52, Kathua 45, Samba 34, Poonch 22, Kishtwar and Ramban 21 each and Reasi 11.
Meanwhile, Chief Secretary BVR Subrahmanyam has condoled the untimely demise of Nivedita Munshi, Under Secretary Home Department.
The Chief Secretary offered condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and courage to the family to bear the irreparable loss.
The Union Territory of Ladakh today reported one Corona casualty and 41 fresh cases.
A 54-year-old woman from Kuyul Changthang in Leh district died of virus today taking Corona toll in Ladakh to 123 including 80 in Leh and 43 in Kargil.
Of 41 new cases, 35 were reported in Leh and six in Kargil district which took the UT’s toll to 9112. Of them, 800 cases are active and 8189 have recovered from the virus.
