JAMMU/SRINAGAR/LEH, Dec 12: Jammu and Kashmir today reported seven COVID-19 casualties and 419 positives cases while 430 infected persons recovered from the virus. The Union Territory of Ladakh recorded 26 new cases.
Four fatalities were reported in the Jammu region and all of them were women while three deaths occurred in the Valley.
Out of four deaths in Jammu region today, three were reported from Jammu district and one in Rajouri.
A 70-year-old woman from Sainik Colony, who was suffering from hypertension and Type2 Diabetes and was positive for COVID-19 died in Narayana Hospital Katra where she was admitted five days back. Another woman aged 79 and hailing from Bohri Talab Tillo, who had Azotemia, hypertension and Coronavirus, died in the Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu.
A 90-year-old woman from Miran Sahib in RS Pura area died of COVID at home while 63-year-old woman from Chowki in Nowshera tehsil of Rajouri district succumbed to the virus at Fortis Hospital Amritsar after 24 days of treatment.
With four more COVID deaths today, Jammu region’s Corona toll has reached 645. Jammu topped the tally with 327 deaths while Doda has recorded 58 casualties, Udhampur and Rajouri 53 each, Kathua 45, Samba 34, Poonch 22, Kishtwar and Ramban 21 each and Reasi 11.
Those who succumbed to the virus in Kashmir include a 75-year-old man from Kupwara besides two persons from Baramulla district-a 60-year-old man from Dangiwachi and a 52-year-old from Hajibal.
Former MLC and prominent BJP leader Vikram Randhawa today tested positive for COVID-19 in Jammu.
Eight persons have tested positive for the virus in Domana, five Jewel Chowk, three each Rajinder Park and Pallanwalla, two each Police Post Panjtirthi, Kachi Chawni and Bishnah and one each at Ragunath Bazaar, DC office, Dansal, Marh and RS Pura in Jammu district.
Among 208 persons who tested positive for COVID-19 in Jammu region today, 118 belonged to Jammu district, 26 Udhampur, 13 each Kathua and Kishtwar, 12 Rajouri, 11 Samba, nine Doda, three Ramban, two Poonch and one in Reasi district.
Of 226 persons, who recovered from the virus, the maximum 120 hailed from Jammu district followed by 39 Udhampur, 20 Doda, 18 Kathua, 12 Rajouri, 11 Kishtwar, five Ramban and one in Poonch district. No recoveries were, however, reported from Samba and Reasi districts.
Jammu region now has 47250 Coronavirus cases. Of them, 44329 have recovered from the virus leaving behind 2276 active positives as there have been 645 casualties.
The Union Territory of Ladakh today reported 26 Corona positive cases-25 in Leh and one in Kargil district taking UT’s count to 9138. Of them, 766 are active cases and 8249 have recovered from the virus. There have been 123 Corona casualties in Ladakh-80 in Leh and 43 in Kargil.
With three deaths today, the total fatality count in the Valley has reached 1148.
Srinagar district with 433 deaths topped the list followed by Baramulla 168, Budgam 105, Pulwama 87, Kupwara 88, Anantnag 82, Bandipora 56, Kulgam 52, Ganderbal 40 and Shopian 37.
And in Kashmir, 211 people including nine soldiers tested positive for the virus.
Srinagar reported 89 cases, Baramulla 24, Budgam 35, Kupwara 14, Pulwama 10, Anantnag 5, Bandipora 9, Ganderbal 16 and Shopian 9.
As per officials figures, 24,161 positive cases including 433 deaths and 22,601 recoveries are from Srinagar, 7,717 including 168 deaths and 7,341 recoveries are from Baramulla, 7,290 including 6,881 recoveries and 105 deaths are from Budgam, 5,361 including 5,088 recoveries and 88 deaths are from Kupwara, 5,276 including 87 deaths and 5,014 recoveries are from Pulwama, 4,657 including 4,451 recoveries and 82 deaths are from Anantnag, 4,533 cases including 4,367 and 56 deaths are from Bandipora, 4,343 including 4,138 recoveries and 40 deaths are from Ganderbal, 2,624 including 2,506 recoveries and 52 deaths are from Kulgam and 2,414 including 2,286 recoveries and 37 deaths are from Shopian.
The number of positive cases in Kashmir have reached to 68,376 including 64,673 recoveries and 1,148 deaths while as Jammu has 47,250 including 44,329 recoveries and 645 deaths.
The total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 4,831 including 2,555 from Kashmir division.
With 430 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 109,002 which is 94.27 percent of the total cases.
