Robbery gang busted; kingpin among 5 arrested with stolen gold ornaments

JAMMU, Dec 14: Police busted a robbery gang with the arrest of its five associates including kingpin along with stolen gold ornaments worth around Rs 4 lakh.
As per police spokesman, a complaint was lodged by a lady identified as Sunita Devi, wife of Ashwani Kumar of Palli Chak Jaralan with Police Station Bishnah stating that during the intervening night of September 4 and 5 last year at about 1 am she heard some sound of thundering and when she woke up she saw some unknown persons forcefully entering into her house who had sticks in their hands. The miscreants had beaten family members mercilessly with the intention to kill them and looted gold ornaments and cash.
After commission of offence all dacoits fled away from the spot, the spokesman added.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 147/2019 under Sections 458, 395, 307, 147 and 148 IPC was registered at Police Station Bishnah and investigation started.
During the course of investigation, many suspects were rounded up but no fruit full clue was made out.
A special team under the supervision of SDPO RS Pura Shabir Khan and assisted by SHO Bishnah Inspector Tahir Yousaf continued with the investigation technically, the spokesman informed.
“After minutely accessing the modus operandi of the gang, the investigation team zeroed in four persons identified as Shahrukh Khan, son of Jamal Din, Mohabbat, son of Jamal Din, Sawan and Rehmaan, son of Rafi, all residents of Rajasthan and arrested them from Punjab. The gang members are tribals from Rajasthan”, the spokesman said, adding that during the course of interrogation, accused persons disclosed the name of their one accomplice namely Aslam alias Nosoo, son of Nain Hussain, a resident of Rajasthan who was the kingpin of the gang.
After the arrest of Aslam from Punjab and when put to sustained interrogation, he confessed his involvement in the aforesaid robbery case and on his discloser gold ornaments worth Rs 4 lakh was recovered.
Further questioning of the arrested robbers is going on to ascertain their involvement in other theft and robbery cases.
The whole operation was conducted under the supervision of SP Headquarters Jammu Aadil Hamid and SSP Jammu Shridhar Patil.
