DODA, Dec 14: Despite lapse of over 70 years after Independence, several villages in Sub Division Gandoh are still waiting for road connectivity.
Due to non-availability of road connectivity, the residents especially school going children have to face tough time particularly during rainfall and monsoon season.
“During rainfall or monsoon season when streams start overflowing and slopes become slippery, it becomes dangerous and life threatening especially for the school going children to move out of their houses,” the residents said.
The locals told the EXCELSIOR that a link road was connected from Milsar to Latizar in the year 2018, but it has not been completed till today despite lapse of around three years.
“Even in the 21st century we don’t have road connectivity. We have been deprived of even basic facilities as no one from the administration is bothered to visit our villages in the last 70 years and listen to our grievances”, the residents alleged.
During elections, the politicians promised a lot but delivered nothing on ground, the residents said and alleged that despite several requests to the concerned authorities, no effort has been made to provide road connectivity to their villages.
The residents have appealed to the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha and DDC Doda to look into the matter and resolve it on priority basis so as to provide some succor to them especially school going children.
When contacted, Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) R&B Gurjeet Singh told EXCELSIOR that the construction work of the road has been stopped due to lack of funds. He asserted that the work will resume soon.
