‘Digital classroom’ with easy-to-use tech to aid school learning launched

NEW DELHI, May 7:A ‘Digital classroom’ wherein the use of the latest Information technology aids greater participation of children in school and greater engagement between students and teachers, was launched in the Capital today.
A ‘digital solution’, that enables teachers to make school lessons more dynamic by incorporating interactivity and multimedia content, to allow greater student participation, was today unveiled by Samsung Electronics at Modern school in Delhi.
Launched by the company in partnership with Modern School at Barakhamba Road, the new initiative called ‘Samsung School’, aims to improve student learning with easy-to-use immersive technology for the digital classroom .
New technology for the classroom has been facilitated by the Samsung R and D Centre in Bangalore, SRI Bangalore that has worked to deliver advanced solutions for the digital classroom.
Unveiling the digital solution, Mr Sam K Akkapeddi, vice-president, Enterprise Business, Samsung India, said, “The digital solution enables instant sharing of what is on the screen of a teacher’s device to his/her students’ personal devices. It gives teachers greater control over their classroom, increases student engagement and ensures a more efficient transfer of materials to students, which in turn encourages more participation, results in more efficient communication and delivers improved classroom management and performance.
We expect schools in other parts of the country too to adopt the Samsung School Concept going forward.”
He said the ‘Samsung School’ solution being implemented at Modern School has been deployed in many Korean schools as a pilot, and is currently being implemented in more than 20 schools around the world – from Africa and Asia to Europe and North America.
Speaking about the new initiative, Ms Lata Vaidyanathan, Principal of the Modern School, said,”by collaborating with Samsung for the Samsung School solution, we want our students to experience new , interactive ways of learning; have them engage better with their teachers and enhance their overall learning experience and retention.”
Under the new initiative, Samsung has provided Modern School with a Samsung School solution package consisting of 42 GALAXY Note 10.1 units and a 65-inch interactive whiteboard.
The solution gives the teacher the ability to lead interactive lessons and real-time group activities through screen and content sharing features.
The technical support for the Samsung School solution will be given by SRI-Bangalore while the Course content has been worked on by the School itself .
The School is also free to partner with Content providers to design the digital course content , while SRI Bangalore will ensure smooth implementation and technical support. (UNI)
