3.55 pc migrants cast vote

JAMMU, Dec 16: Two hundred and twenty seven votes were polled by Kashmiri migrants in the seventh phase of polling for 13 District Development Council (DDC) constituencies of Kashmir valley which went to polls today at 13 polling booths each at Jammu and Udhampur respectively.
As per reports, 221 migrants cast their votes for 13 DDC constituencies of Kashmir at specially established 13 polling booths at Government Degree College for Women Gandhi Nagar while 6 migrant voters turned up to cast their votes for 13 specially established polling booths at Government Higher Secondary School, Udhampur.
Out of 13 constituencies in Valley, the highest number of 100 votes were polled for DDC constituency Sogam in North Kashmir district of Kupwara which was followed by 57 votes in DDC constituency Sagam in South Kashmir district of Anantnag.
Forty votes were polled for DDC constituency Frisal in South Kashmir district of Kulgam while six votes each were polled for Singpora DDC constituency in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district and Parnewa DDC constituency in Central Kashmir district of Budgam.
Five votes were polled for DDC constituency Kakapora in South Kashmir district of Pulwama and four votes were cast for Behibagh DDC constituency of in South Kashmir district of Kulgam. Two votes were polled for Soibugh DDC constituency of district Budgam and one vote was polled for DDC constituency of Anantnag in district Anantnag.
However, no migrant voters turned up for polling for the constituencies of Naidkhai and Hajan -C in district Bandipora, Chitragam DDC constituency in district Shopian and Sherpathri DDC constituency in district Ganderbal.
Confirming this, Anushman Singh, ARO, Migrants said that 221 votes were polled at Jammu while six votes were cast at Udhampur for 13 DDC constituencies of Kashmir valley. He said his office had received 6347 ballot papers for these constituencies and the voting percentage for these constituencies is 3.55.
He said at Udhampur two votes were polled for Frisal DDC constituency in Kulgam district , three for Chitragam constituency in district Shopian and one for Sagam constituency in district Anantnag while no voter turned up for other constituencies.
