NEW DELHI: Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday expressed deep grief over the suicide of a Sikh Preacher, who came from Karnal, Haryana, to join the farm protest, and also asked the Centre to withdraw the three farm laws. Taking to Twitter, Mr Gandhi posted, ”Saint Baba Ram Singh from Karnal after looking at the miserable condition of farmers at Kundli border committed suicide.
”My condolences and tributes in this hour of grief. Several farmers have sacrificed their lives already.
”The government’s cruelty has crossed all the limits. Quit stubbornness and immediately withdraw the anti-agricultural laws,” he added. Condoling the suicide of Saint Baba Ram Singh, Congress leader Randeep Surjewala said it was the result of ‘Modi government’s cruelty’.
Calling the incident as heart-wrenching, he said, ”May God give peace to the departed soul.” The preacher allegedly shot himself at Delhi-Sonipat border. (AGENCIES)
