Pensioners highlight demands

JAMMU, May 25: All Jammu and Kashmir Pensioners Association has urged the Government to take an early decision in respect of doing away with the cumbersome procedure of verification of pensioners.
In a meeting chaired by S Ajit Singh Adyal, various spaeakers of the association including J K Padha, OP Gupta, Shamboo Nath Khajuria, Janak Raj Gupta and S K Khushu invited the attention of the Government to their long pending demands, which included cash payment of balance of 6th Pay Commission in one installment and pending DA of six months, extension of Central Quantum of Pensioners to State Pensioners, introduction of Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme and waiving off interest in full on commutation pension.
They also demanded release of retirement benefits of GTU pensioners including GP Fund, leave salary, presently retained with J&K SRTC and release of balance of 6th Pay Commission arrears retained by SRTC and AG Office respectively.
Besides, Adyal urged the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, to take appropriate steps to resolve the problems and demands of State Government Employees and pensioners so that such type of strikes and bandhs could be avoided in future in the best interest of general public.
