SRINAGAR, May 7: Minister for Urban Local Bodies and Urban Development, Nawang Rigzin Jora today visited Rakh-i-Arith Bemina and took stock of various on-going works being executed for the establishment of Rehabilitation and Resettlement Slum Dwellers of Dal and Nageen lakes. He exhorted upon the executing agencies to speed up the pace of work on the project so that affected people could be rehabilitated soon.
Mr. Jora was accompanied by the Commissioner Secretary Housing and Urban Development Department, Jeet Lal, Vice Chairman Lakes and Water Ways Authority (LAWDA) Irfan Yaseen Shah and other concerned officers.
Mr. Jora enjoined upon the officers to put in all-out efforts for the speedy completion of the project and work with coordination. He also emphasized on monthly monitoring and assessing of the work for its early completion.
The Minister directed the Vice Chairman LAWDA to personally monitor the progress of the work besides ensuring quality of work.
Rakh-i-Arith Colony is being established at the estimated cost of Rs. 416.72 crore which will have Mini Township equipped with all modern facilities besides all basic amenities for habitation.
Under the project 7526 kanals of land will be developed in three phases. In first phase which is under progress 3000 kanals of land is being developed under which 4500 plots will be developed for the rehabilitation of Dal Dwellers.
The Minister said that in first phase 377 plots have been already allotted to the affected people while in second phase 3000 kanals will be developed and rest of 1526 of kanals of land will be developed in third phase.
During the visit various deputations also called on the Minister and put forth various day to day issues and problems before him. The Minister gave patient hearing to all the deputationists and assured them that their genuine problems will be redressed on priority.
