DB refuses to suspend life imprisonment of CRPF jawan

JAMMU, Dec 17: Division Bench of the High Court has dismissed the application filed by CRPF jawan seeking suspension of life-imprisonment awarded to him for killing Inspector and two others at Chief Minister’s residence in the year 2006.
According to the prosecution case, on April 3, 2006, accused CRPF constable namely Anand Kumar Singh, son of Ram Naresh Singh of Bihar shot dead Inspector Mohan Shyam from his Insas Rifle over an old enmity at Chief Minister’s residence at Wazarat Road. He also killed two Havaldars namely Joginder Jha and H N Pandey when they tried to nab the accused jawan.
Accordingly, a case was registered at Peer Mitha Police Station under Section 302 RPC and 30 Arms Act. During the course of investigation, the accused CRPF jawan was arrested and on his disclosure weapon of offence and other ammunition were recovered.
After completion of investigation, police presented challan in the court of law and the trial court convicted the accused Anand Kumar Singh and awarded life-imprisonment.
After hearing AAG Aseem Sawhney for J&K, the DB said, “it is not a fit case for suspension of sentence. The application is accordingly, dismissed”.
