Good governance, development priority of Modi Govt: Thakur

KATHUA, Dec 17: Anurag Singh Thakur, Union Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs, in-charge of Jammu and Kashmir DDC elections, today said that, Gupkar Alliance was doing politics of destruction instead of development in Jammu and Kashmir and on the other hand the Modi Government, which is known for good governance and development, has taken the UT on the path of progress.

Addressing election rallies at Keedian Gandyal and Basantpur Anurag Thakur said, that in the last 70 years, the Abdullah-Mufti families and Congress have worked only to deceive Jammu and Kashmir. There was the responsibility of development on the shoulders of leader of these parties but they did nothing else than destruction. They only cared for personal development and plunged the State into the fire of ruin, terrorism, anarchy and separatism. The Modi Government has healed the wounds of Jammu and Kashmir and has created an atmosphere of peace and tranquility in erstwhile State.
Former State president Sat Sharma, State vice president and district in-charge Yudhvir Sethi, former Minister, Rajiv Jasrotia and other BJP leaders also addressed the rallies.
He said the Modi Government is known only for good governance and development. The country has felt this change under the leadership of Modiji. “Antyodaya is our mission and we do politics of development rather than destruction like Gupkarians. Politics is the medium of service for us and under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, the Bharatiya Janata Party is committed to create a happy, prosperous and safe new Jammu and Kashmir , ” he added.
Speaking further, Thakur said, “The Modi Government is committed to the all-round development of Jammu and Kashmir and he has flagged off many development projects here. With all the major educational institutions like Indian Institute of Technology, Indian Institute of Management, Indian Institute of Mass Communication, AIIMS, the State is becoming the new education hub of North India. The AIIMS and two Cancer Institutes in Jammu and Kashmir, the sanctioning of two new Medical Colleges in Udhampur and Handwara is a gift of the BJP Government”, he added.
He said Prime Minister, Modi has already laid the foundation stone for three Model Degree Colleges in Kishtwar, Kunzar and Baramulla.
Speaking further, Thakur said “The Government has so far completed construction of 1858 roads and 84 bridges of 11,517 km length under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) in Jammu and Kashmir. Villages were connected by roads. The work done by the BJP in Jammu and Kashmir in five years was not done by these people in 70 years. 3261 roads and 243 bridges have been approved for a total of 1961 kilometers of Jammu and Kashmir. Rs 3750 crore were given construction of ring road in Jammu and Srinagar and Basohli-Bani-Bhaderwah road”, he added.
He said construction of Udhampur-Ramban-Banihal road by Rs 4306 crore, construction of Qazigund-Banihal road by Rs 2410 crore, construction of Jammu-Akhnoor-Poonch road by Rs 5100 crore, construction of Zojila Tunnel (Srinagar-Leh) by Rs 9000 crore, Atal Setu and the construction of the Keedian-Gandayal bridge, the tunnel at Chhatargala and Sudh Mahadev is a historic achievement of the BJP Government, he added.
