JAMMU, Dec 17: Akhnoor police solved hit and run case with the arrest of accused driver within 24 hours.
As per police sources, yesterday an information was received at Police Station Akhnoor from reliable sources that a pedestrian namely Bal Krishan, son of Gian Chand of Bhalwal Brahmana was on his way towards Akhnoor when an unknown vehicle hit the person from behind. Some locals shifted the victim to SDH Akhnoor for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries.
The driver fled away from spot along with vehicle.
On the information, a case under FIR Number 239/2020 under Sections 279 and 304-A IPC was registered at Police Station Akhnoor and investigation started.
During the course of investigation, a special team led by SHO Akhnoor Inspector Ravi Singh Parihar after hectic efforts arrested the accused driver of the vehicle who was identified as Mangat Ram, son of Sat Pal of Koudewalla.
On his disclosure, vehicle bearing registration number JK02CB-0164 was also recovered and seized.
Further investigation into the case is going on.
