JAMMU, Dec 18: Aryans Group of Colleges, Rajpura, and near Chandigarh organized a webinar on ‘Pharmacokinetics & Pharmacodynamics’.
Dr. Pradip Bhateja, Director, Magnus Chemicals interacted with faculty members and the students of B. Pharmacy and D. Pharmacy of Aryans Pharmacy College and Aryans College of Pharmacy.
GNM and ANM students of Aryans Institute of Nursing also participated.
Dr. Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans Group presided over the webinar.
Dr. Bhateja while interacting with the students said that drug efficacy and safety depend on all aspects of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics for optimal treatment.
“The assessment of efficacy, drug-drug interactions, and adverse drug reactions is essential for optimal outcomes of the medicine and relates to biochemical and physiological effects of drugs in the body,” he said.
Dr. Bhateja further explained that pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics determine the clinical effects of drug therapy.
“Pharmacokinetics is the quantitative study of drug absorption, distribution, metabolism and elimination while pharmacodynamics is clinically more elusive as it determines the effect of the drug at the end organ,” he maintained.
“This describes the relationship between drug concentration and the desirable clinical effects of a medication as well,” Dr. Bhateja explained.
