JAMMU, Dec 19: How a practising advocate turned the tide of trauma befallen on her and accomplished the first step successfully, to step into the boots of her late husband, is really a story full of dedication, motivation and inspiration for many with broken hearts.
Life was smooth for Radha Charak-a young practicing advocate from Bari Brahmana married in the year 2015 to Buta Singh-a Corporal in Indian Air Force (IAF) and hailing from Ghou Manahasan village of Jammu.
Two years after marriage, the couple was blessed by a son-Nirbhay Singh and this brought a new wave of happiness in the family but this happiness was destined to live short.
All of a sudden Buta Singh suffered to cardiac arrest in the mid of the year 2018, while he was preparing to leave for his new area of posting in the Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and he succumbed to it.
Almost broken, inconsolable Radha was completely shattered and was left with her one year old son and an elderly mother-in-law.
Late Buta Singh had no other brother and his only sister was also married to an Army-man while his father too served in army and was also no more in this world.
While Radha even went without food for days together and was heading towards darker phase of life, there came a responsible father to play his vital role which changed the course her life.
Father of Radha, Subedar Major Tarseem Singh Charak (retired) told this reporter over phone that he made up his mind to take his daughter out of the distress she was in and motivated her to start preparations to join the force where her late husband served.
“She agreed and gave her words to her mother-in-law that soon Buta Singh will be back in the form of Radha,” Tarseem Charak informed adding, with that promise started hard practice for Radha in which she got coaching in Delhi.
“After she cleared her SSB, she underwent rigorous training and today was her passing out parade at Hyderabad which we watched on YouTube as due to COVID protocol her mother in law and we could not attend her parade at the venue,” he said adding: “Now she has fulfilled her promise with her mother-in-law and made me a proud father.”
Tarseem Singh also said that his daughter, now Flying Officer, was already interested to join some uniformed force and had cleared physical and other tests for Sub Inspector post in J&K Police but could not appeared for the written test as her husband died on June 21 while her test was scheduled for June 24, 2018.
He further said that Radha studied at Army School BD Bari after which she completed her five years law degree at University of Jammu.
“In Army School she remained captain of Basket Ball team of the school,” he informed.
The retired army-man further said: “She lost in first two attempts in SSB but I motivated her to carry on and in her third attempt she made it.”
Now Tarseem Singh remembers how he used to accompany her daughter to swimming pool and Army ground for physical training till she cleared her SSB in Dehradun.
He left a message to those having daughters to give a go ahead to daughters to tough new skies.
