RAJOURI, Dec 19: The building of a Govt Primary School in Khawas Zone of district Rajouri is lying in shambles and the concerned School Education authorities have miserably failed to come to the rescue of the hapless children of this school situated in remotest area of the district.
Official sources said that Govt Primary School, Gawibas in Khawaz Zone of district Rajouri, having strength of nearly 70 children, was constructed during 2009. But surprisingly within 11 years, this building has turned into shambles. Its tin roof has been badly damaged and several widows are missing. The villagers of the area brought to the matter to notice of district Education authorities but action in this regard was still awaited. The students and staff is facing hardships.
A local Panch of the area, Manzoor Ahmed said that during wind storm few years ago the tin roof top of the school was badly damaged. Tins were uprooted and broken. Some tins were brought back after search and placed on the building but some roof area is still lying open. During winters and rainy days it becomes horrible for the children to carry on their studies.
He said in case of rain, the water enters into rooms and the children can not sit inside. The school is closed under such circumstances. There is not compound wall in the school and stray animals often enter the premises. In the absence of widows the cold wave enters inside and it becomes very difficult for the children and staff to sit inside. Mostly, children sit in the open. Some cosmetic repair work was done during 2015 by the Zonal Education authorities concerned which needs probe by the District Administration.
He said local Panchayat members and even the school staff requested the concerned Zonal Education Officer and even CEO Rajouri on several occasions but much needed funds were not provided for the repair of this school building. They said even the matter had been taken up with the then Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri last year but the people of the area are still waiting for the action on the part of Administration.
