Hit & run case worked out, accused driver arrested

JAMMU, Dec 19: Bathindi Police worked out a hit and run case with the arrest of accused driver within 24 hours.
As per police sources, a truck conductor identified as Jahangir, son of Mohammad Ismail, a resident of Shopian was seriously injured after hit by a car near Panchayat Ghar Malik Market yesterday.
He was rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Jammu, where he failed to respond to the treatment and succumbed to his injuries.
The body of the deceased has been handed over to family members today for last rites after conducting autopsy at GMCH Jammu.
After putting in hectic efforts, a team from Bathindi Police Post led by SI Kamalpreet Singh under the supervision of SHO Bahu Fort Inspector Deepak Pathania arrested the accused driver and seized the car.
The arrested person has been identified as Touqeer Ahmed Zargar, son of Ishtiaq Ahmed Zargar, a resident of Kishtwar, at present Bathindi
A case under relevant Sections stands registered at Bahu Fort Police Station and further investigation is going on.
