KPC reiterates Kashyap State demand within Valley

JAMMU, May 8: Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) today reiterated that displaced Pandits were willing to return to Kashmir Valley provided the Government settles them at a consolidated place by carving out the Kashyap State.
Addressing a meeting of displaced Pandits putting up at Dehradun in Uttranchal KPC chief Kundan Kashmiri warned the Government for hoodwinking the community on the name of return and said that no proposal will be acceptable to KPC which does not have the consent of all community members leading an exiled life for last 23 years now.
He said retention of community in Valley is more important than return and in view of the giving circumstances as well as role of separatists and terrorists Pandits settlement in their original places or in a township where there is no free flow of Indian Constitution is not possible as community does not like to face same problems which it has undergone since 1947.
Kashmiri said that twin city concept will not provide institutional and constitutional guarantees to the community and before taking any step in this regard the Government should discuss all its modalities with community leaders especially address its security, political, social and economic concerns. These concerns can only be addressed by carving out a separate state within Valley with UT status and free flow of Indian Constitution, he added.
