JAMMU, Dec 22: Pacca Danga police arrested a chain snatcher and recovered snatched gold chain worth Rs 1 lakh from his possession.
As per police sources, on December 20 this year, a complaint was lodged by a person namely Ketan Gupta, son of Narinder Gupta of Janipur with Police Station Pacca Danga stating that some unknown person on scooty bearing registration number JK02CC-0545 has snatched his gold chain worth Rs 1 lakh.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 153/2020 under Section 382 IPC was registered at Police Station Pacca Danga and hunt was launched to nab the chain snatcher.
A team from Police Station Pacca Danga led by SHO Inspector Ajit Singh rounded up several suspects and finally arrested the chain snatcher with the help of technical team and CCTV camera footage of the area of crime.
The arrested person has been identified as Jatinder Matoo, son of Miliki Ram of Valmiki Colony.
During sustained questioning, the accused confessed his involvement in the said case and on his disclosure snatched gold chain worth Rs 1 lakh was recovered.
Further investigation is going on to ascertain his involvement in any other cases.
