3 Punjab smugglers arrested with 70 kg poppy straw, Rs 1.5 lakh cash

SAMBA, Dec 25: Samba police arrested three Punjab based narcotics smugglers and recovered about 70 kg of poppy straw (bhukki) along with cash of Rs 1.5 lakh at police naka Nud.
According to the reports, a police party of police station Samba headed by Inspector Rajesh Jasrotia while performing vehicle checking duty at naka Nud intercepted a truck bearing registration number PB11BU-5846 which was coming from Kashmir side and moving towards Samba via Udhampur- Mansar road.
During thorough checking of the vehicle, police recovered poppy straw (bhukki) weighing about 70 kg as well as cash of Rs 1.5 lakh. The accused persons identified as Jaswinder Lal son of Joga Lal of Boparai Kalan-Nakodar (Jalandhar), Gurtej Singh son of Charan Lal of Pukhowal-Raikot (Ludhiana) and Neeraj Kumar son of Bhinder of Pousa-Garhshankar (Hoshiarpur), were arrested on spot and contraband item along with cash were seized.
In this regard, a case FIR number 348/2020 under Sections 8/15/27/29 NDPS Act was registered at police station Samba and further investigation started.
