JAMMU, Dec 25: In the ongoing festive season of Christmas and New Year, IIT Jammu organized a get-together in hybrid mode between students and teachers.
The welcome address was presented by Dr Amiatsh Ojha, HOD, Dept of HSS.
This was followed by activities ranging from cultural events and performances to games like musical chairs and dumb charades.
Pummy Sharma, Research Scholar scintillated the environment by becoming Santa Claus, distributing gifts and sharing happiness.
‘Donate the winter-wear essentials’ drive was also successfully organized by Kritash, the social welfare body of the institute and the NSS unit, under the guidance of Dr Suchismita from December 4-22, 2020 in collaboration with NGO ‘The Sara.’
Student volunteers—Himanshu, Prarthana, Diksha and Shubham; Research Scholars—Sheriya Sareen and Tanu and staff members—Rakesh Kumar, Ravi Kumar, and their team ensured the smooth flow of drive.
IIT Jammu family along with the volunteers of ‘The Sara’ whole-heartedly participated in donating the clothes and spreading smiles and joy to the needy. The
COVID-19 protocols were strictly followed.
Dr Pankaj Chauhan and Dr Suruchi Mahajan from the Department of Chemistry along with their
Research Scholars sanitized the clothes.
Dr Raminder Jit Singh, Founder and Director of ‘The Sara’ sensitized the audience about social activities carried out by the NGO.
IIT Jammu donated eight cartons of winter-wears to help the needy.
The programme concluded with refreshment and some soothing Christmas carols.
