Srinagar, Dec 26: A 30-year old woman died allegedly due to negligence at the Government Hospital Baramulla in north Kashmir but doctors said she died of cardiac arrest.
The victim’s death led to protest by the family members alleging medical negligence that resulted in death. The family members said Afroza was seven months pregnant and was experiencing high blood pressure for the last three days.
“Doctors at SDH Sopore referred her here last night. But the doctors here neither gave her the desired treatment nor referred her to Srinagar for better treatment,” Bilal Ahmad, a family member said.
Family members alleged the lady died due to medical negligence. “Only a single nurse was attending to her. If she was critical why was not a doctor treating her,” a family member said.
He added the doctors are hiding the cause of death from the family. “We have been demanding inquiry into the cause of death, but doctors are not revealing anything. They are not even allowing us to have look at her file. We are yet to see the body”, he said
Meanwhile, the hospital authorities said that the patient died due to sudden cardiac arrest. “The patient was shifted from Sopore with Pulmonary edema with PIH. She collapsed due to sudden cardiac arrest,” the hospital authorities said.
