Cong demands rescue of stranded truckers on NH

JAMMU, Dec 30: Transport wing of Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress has expressed concern over the large number of truckers stranded on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH) and asked the Government to rescue them immediately to save their lives.
In a statement convenor of JKPCC Transport wing and president J&K Motor Transport Companies Association, Gajan Singh has said that large number of truckers including oil tankers are stranded at various places for the last over four days and there is no immediate possibility of their movement. They are making distress calls to their co- workers, family members and authorities and appealing through media also that they are facing hardships, since most of them have exhausted their eatables and are badly struck up.
Singh said that they tried to meet the advisor to Lt Governor, RR Bhatnagar to apprise him of the situation but could not get time today due to his busy schedule but the government has to take an emergent call on this.
The Government should immediately take steps to rescue them as any delay could be very dangerous for their health and life. There should not be any delay in this emergent situation.
