NMC demands release of 8% DA

JAMMU, May 11: National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) today demanded release of 8 per cent DA installment due from January last in favour of Government employees and pensioners.
Addressing a meeting, President of NMC Subash Shastri urged upon the Chief Minister, Finance Minister and Chief Secretary to release the DA as rising prices of the essential commodities had made the life of salaried class and pensioners very miserable.
Shastri said that the Government has already earmarked funds for the release of DA installments in the State Budget. Shastri hoped that in the next Cabinet meeting a decision in this regards would be taken so that salaried class and pensioners get some relief.
He said that Centre as well as several other Governments have already released this installment to their employees and pensioners and asked the State Government to release the said installment without any delay.
Shastri also demanded enhancement of Medical allowance from Rs 300 to Rs 1000 per month, merging of 50 per cent DA with the basic pay/pension, constituting 7th Pay Commission along with 20 per cent interim relief, regularization of all daily wagers working in various departments besides enhancement of their wages to Rs 10,000 per month, removal of all pay anomalies in SRO 93 and release of pending salary of motivators working in the IWDP Akhnoor Phase II.
Among others who spoke were Rajan Babu Khajuria, Sham Lal Sharma, Rakesh Padha, Anil Singh Salthia, Surinder Kumar, Jog Raj, Sukhdev Singh and Sunil Kochhar.
