JAMMU, Jan 2: An Army jawan was found hanging under mysterious circumstances in Akhnoor area here on city outskirts.
A police official said that early morning today at about 0400 hours, information was received through reliable sources that Sepoy Sandeep Singh (23), son of Jai Bhagwan of village Julani, District Jind Haryana, at present, EME BN Daskal Akhnoor, died in suspicious circumstances and his dead body is found hanging with an iron bhim at Loha Santri Post of Army Officer Mess at Bangti Daskal.
He said that as Seopy’s death occurred in suspicious circumstances and in order to ascertain the cause of his death, inquest proceeding under Section 174 CrPC has been initiated.
Police team rushed on the spot and FSL team was also called on the spot. After conducting photography and videography, the dead body was shifted to SDH Akhnoor for postmortem.
After autopsy, the dead body has been handed over to Army authorities for last rites on proper receipts, the police official added.
