SAMBA, Jan 3: A youth has been arrested in dowry death case and sent to three days police remand.
As per police sources, on January 1 this year, a woman identified as Palvi Gupta, wife of Abhishek Badyal allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself at her in-laws house in Ward Number 8 here. Her body was found hanging with fan hook in the store room.
On getting information, police team rushed to the spot and shifted the body of the woman to District Hospital Samba.
After conducting medical examination, the body of the deceased was handed over to legal heirs for last rites.
Inquest proceedings under Section 174 CrPC was initiated by Samba Police and after investigation, it was converted into dowry death case.
The husband of the lady Abhishek Badyal, son of Bodh Raj, a resident of Ward Number 8 Samba has been arrested and sent to three days police remand.
A case under Section 304-B has been registered against Abhishek Badyal and further investigation into the case is going on.
Earlier, the parents and relatives of the deceased girl held protest also and demanded exemplary punishment to Abhishek Badyal.
