SRINAGAR, Jan 6: Taking strong exception to the failures of the JK Administration on account of snow clearance, barring few places, besides failing to ensure electricity and other facilities amid heavy snowfall, the J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) has expressed anguish over the hardships confronting people on account of their immediate needs.
The party also laid emphasizes over ensuring proper medical facilities, ensuring that the patients and pregnant women reach hospitals for treatment, well in time.
Senior Congress leaders Ex-JKPCC president Peerzada Mohd Sayeed, former minister Taj Mohi-U-Din, Ex- Legislators Bashir Ahmad Magrey, Haji Abdul Rashid Dar, Gulam Nabi Monga, Mohd Amin Bhat, Gulzar Ahmad Wani, Mohd Anwar Bhat, Mohd Muzaffar Parray, Amreen Badre, general secretaries Surinder Singh Channi, DCC presidents Abdul Gani Khan, Imtiyaz Parray, Zahid Hussain Jan, Fayaz Ahmad Dar, Fayaz Ahmad Mir and various other leaders in a joint statement have expressed anguish over the hardships confronting people on account of snow clearance in upper reaches, towns and interiors especially in Anantnag, Shopian, Pulwama, Srinagar, Kupwara, Bandipora, Budgam and Baramulla districts despite the repeated assurances rather tall claims by the administration, which has failed to come upto the expectations of the people, when they need timely help to face the current harsh weather.
Although, electricity has reportedly been restored at various places, but rest of the valley is reeling under darkness, which is a matter of serious concern under the current bone chilling cold, the leaders said and demanded restoration of electricity in entire Kashmir.
The leaders also emphasized the Govt to ensure availability of essentials, besides keeping a close vigil on over charging by shopkeepers, vegetable vendors, etc which has become a routine especially during winter months in Kashmir, so there is a need to gear up market checking squads inorder to avoid inconvenience to common people, Congress leaders told J&K Administration.
Congress demanded restoration of electricity, snow clearance in entire snow bound Kashmir and other affected areas in Jammu province, laying emphasizes over ensuring timely medical facilities to patients and pregnant women, as that, the blockade of roads due to snow is a great obstacle in the movement of vehicles, which needs to be addressed, on priority.
